Happy Mardi Gras 2022!

This year's Mardi Gras theme is UNITED WE SHINE, symbolising "LGBTQIA+ communities shining brighter together, standing up against hate and inequality, and sharing the message of love and inclusion".

United we shine is what we live and breathe here at Plant Daddy-we love our community, love, and coming together to uplift one another. Being in the centre of Newtown and working so closely with many other small, local businesses has shaped us and made us who we are; and we wouldn't have it any other way! Our community means so much to us, and is an integral part of our growth as a business and as individuals. - Clem

Mardi Gras is probably my favourite time of the year!

It's more than just a chance to party and get a bit wild (although, don't get me wrong, that's definitely a highlight); it's a chance for the LGBTQIA+ community to connect, to celebrate local artists and performers, but most importantly to reflect on the fight that started in '78, and how much further there is to go.

To me, that's what this year's theme is all about: I really believe we can only truly shine when we unite to stand up against those who would dull our light, and protect the most vulnerable in our community. - Jas
