Indoor Plants: Out with the Old, In with the New

First things first, it's time to give your indoor plants a little TLC. Start by checking for any dead or yellowing leaves and giving them a trim. (Think of it as a little plant haircut!) Next, repot any plants that have outgrown their pots and give them a fresh dose of nutrient-rich soil. Your plants will thank you with lush, green growth in no time!

Outdoor Plants: Prepping for the Great Outdoors

For your outdoor plants, it's all about getting them ready to soak up the sun. Start by clearing away any debris or dead leaves from the winter months. (Think of it as giving your plants a spring cleaning!) Next, give them a good watering and a dose of fertiliser to kickstart their growth. Before you know it, your outdoor garden will be bursting with colour!

1. Assess the condition of your plants

Start by assessing the condition of your indoor plants. Look for any signs of damage or disease, such as yellowing leaves or pests. If you notice any issues, take the necessary steps to address them, don't wait or else :(

2. Repot if necessary

If your plants have outgrown their current pots or the soil is compacted, it's a good idea to repot them, signs might include roots coming to the surface or out of drainage holes as well as compacted poor soil and foliage that ain't looking to happy. Choose a pot that is slightly larger and use a well-draining potting mix. This will provide your plants with the space and nutrients they need to thrive, again don't ignore the obvious for too long!

3. Prune and trim

Pruning and trimming your indoor plants is essential for their overall health and appearance. Remove any dead or yellowing leaves, as well as any overgrown branches, ensure you use the right tools for the job and always clean after use to stop any bacteria or pest infections and to keep your tools strong for years to come.
Pruning and trimming will encourage new growth and help your plants maintain their shape, don't be afraid... they will grow back eventually, just like our hair!

4. Clean the leaves

Indoor plants can accumulate dust and dirt on their leaves, which can hinder their ability to photosynthesise- in brief photosynthetic organisms, including plants, algae, and some bacteria, play a key ecological role. They introduce chemical energy and fixed carbon into ecosystems by using light to synthesise sugars.

By using a damp cloth or sponge to gently wipe the leaves and remove any debris. You may also wish to use a leaf conditioner to give your plants a little extra love and care.
Following this step will help your plants absorb more sunlight and stay healthy, plus its a great chance to inspect your foliage for any pests that might be hiding out.

5. Adjust watering and fertilising

With the arrival of Spring, your indoor plants may require more frequent watering. Monitor the moisture levels of the soil and adjust your watering schedule accordingly, if you are still learning how your planty friend enjoys their beverage you can always use a handy sustee to help understand their needs more.
Additionally, consider fertilising your plants with a balanced fertiliser to provide them with the nutrients they need for growth.

6. Introduce natural light

During the Winter months, indoor plants often receive less natural light. As Spring approaches, gradually re-introduce your plants to more sunlight. Place them near a window or in a well-lit area, but avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
